I'm hoping my mom will have her own post on her first trip to Hawaii very soon (hint, hint, Mom!) so until then, I won't tell too much about her trip. Other than she got off to a rough start but ended up having a hula of a time!
Just to give some background...my mom hasn't travelled to too many exotic locations over the years. (OK, extreme understatement.) And never to Hawaii, a place she's always wanted to see.
My dear aunt has travelled the world so much that she doesn't even have room any more for stamps in her passport! But when I asked her awhile back if she might possible consider going with my mom, since, for various reasons it wouldn't work out for her to come with us...she didn't even hesitate.
Both sisters are only 22 months apart. My mom is the oldest...and the shortest. (Both of their parents were on the short side so no one knows what made my aunt grow...she must have snuck in some extra veggies from the victory garden growing up!)
I am so grateful that my aunt so readily agreed to "champerone" her, and that my aunt's husband drove the two hours to and from the airport to escort them. And I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that my mom finally got to live out this simple dream.
So...since my mom hasn't gotten the hang of posting pictures yet (I'm just proud of my almost 80 years young, depression-era mama for even using e-mail and writing blogs, for goodness sakes!)...I'm posting a few pictures I snagged off my aunt's website.
And for the finale...I give you...my mom! Aloha!

How nice that they went together and your mom gets to experience an exotic type holiday!
I'm glad you snagged a few of my sisters. I didn't end up taking near as many as she did, partly because with the sun glasses I had to wear it was difficult to veiw the screen to shoot plus my inexperience, but knew with hers I would end up having a good back up of pictures. Besides, I didn't want to miss anything I was seeing. I'll explain the sunglasses when I post.

I'm so very happy for your Momma!! She's acting out my dream...I'm sure she is just soaking in all of the beauty right now...it would be hard to think of blogging with all that around you I'm sure!

My first thought when you said her trip got off to a rough start was, "What is it with this family and Hawaii!" :-)

Wow. You're mother's almost 80 years old. I'm very impressed she made this trip and thank goodness your aunt went with her. I'll bet they had a ball on this once-in-a-lifetime trip.
Note re your remark on my last post. Rob hasn't gotten a real job. He's working at this place through a temp agency. It's a three month assignment and doesn't pay well, but we're hoping he impresses them enough to get an offer for a permanent position. Falling off trucks isn't a great start, but they know it wasn't his fault.
Your mom seems like such a great person! I loved the pineapple picture and really enjoyed reading through the posts at her blog. What a blessing you have!

Terrific. How fun for your mom. My younger sister and I took a trip to Florida together to visit my brother when our children were little. It was fun...except half of us had the flu on the way home. Sisters are incredible! I love the picture of the sisters when they were young. Maybe my sister snuck some extra veggies, she is an inch taller than me...wait a minute when we were young she liked meat and I liked veggies. I guess it was all the beef.
