Today marks the 20th anniversary of my dad's passing...so hard to believe that it has been this long.
I so wish my husband could have met him- in a few ways, they are so much alike.
And I wish my little girls could have known him, too...I know my dad would have been simply in love with them.
I wrote a little more detail on his life- and especially his life with my mom- last August during what would have been my parent's golden anniversary, had he lived. My dad, like David in the Bible, was a man who made some mistakes in his life, yet was "a man after God's own heart".
Here are a few pictures of him though the years...just tiny glimpses of the man who was my daddy and slipped out of my life all too soon...

It's been 19 years since my dad passed away. I totally understand the missing him part.
Yours was a lovely tribute to your dad. I loved seeing the pictures. He had a nice smile, especially when he was holding you.
I love that last picture especially - your girls look so much like you! I am sorry you lost him so soon. I am blessed to still have mine around and close.

I have a big lump in my throat and tears in my eyes! I can imagine how you must miss him and understand how you would have wanted your girls to know and love him too!

I remember some of those pictures when you posted them before; isn't it something how time passes and you realize how long it's been. Sweet post Tammy.

Oh Tammy, I know how much you miss him. August will be 12 years that my dad's been gone. I just simply cannot believe it's been that long. I love the photos. I can tell he had a zest for life and a big place in his heart for his little girl.
Tammy the love you have for your dad is so precious and such great memories you have. This is a great tribute to a man that meant so much to you and I'm glad I had the opportunity to know about him through your blog. This will help keep his memory alive for others, especially for your girls!

I was thinking of your comment about being 45 and not having held an out of the home job for very long - I was 45 when I started this one. I thought I'd have to work to 65 to be able to retire. I feel blessed to be able to stop now, while I'm still in good health and able to enjoy it. I taught for two years, was a secretary for 5 or so, then stayed at home for a long time, loving the whole time. But this has been a good place to work and I am surprised at my end emotions.
I'm grateful to the faculty person who thought up this little get-together. I don't know if it was her idea, but it feels a bit better than just walking out the door!
