Today, I have a special little date with my girls planned.
They finished their library-sponsered summer reading program and yesterday received their certificates, free books, and...Starbucks cards! Yes, no need to adjust your glasses- you read that right! My little girls each received a free Starbucks card!
Because or our tight monthly budget this summer, I have had to give up my weekly trip to Coffee People, so when I saw their little cards, I began drooling like a Pavlov dog. On closer examination, I realized that each one was good for a blended, NON-caffeinated drink. Still, Starbucks is doing their duty by teaching children the value of a good Starbuck's drink by luring them- I mean- introducing them- at the very earliest age. My seven year old insisted on putting it in her little purse so she could feel like a lady. Hmmm....not sure how I feel about this yet! Still, it's hard to look a gift horse in the mouth. And I don't mean to sound ungrateful to Starbucks...it's just a little...well, strange.
However, far it be for me to turn down any kind of free coffee drink, no-sirree! I do have hubby's blessing (well, permission might be more accurate) to take the girls to Starbucks and have my own coffee drink with them. We will have our little ladies time this morning to celebrate all of the books we read. .. our little splurge, and then I must go back to keeping away from all of those terrible, tempting coffee shops that seem to call out my name as I innocently do my errands.
Even the ones that pass out gift cards to reward unsuspecting little future cappuccino sippers.

Funny! I actually saw a mom order her kid a caramel machiatto the other day (with espresso!) I nearly fainted. I probably would have fainted if I hadn't had my own fix of caffiene!
Well how sweet is that? Their own little cards. A girl's never too young to learn about Starbucks. I'm addicted. My daughters (25 & 27) think I'm nuts because I always have their black coffee on ice. No flavorings, no whipped cream. Just iced black coffee. Is that odd?
What a great way to spend the afternoon with your little girls. And all for reading books which is wonderful.
We don't have any Starbucks near us, and I've never been to one. My little boys do like drinking coffee out of demitasse cups my mother gave them.
My husband's family are all originally from Sicily and I was surprised to find that they let toddlers drink espresso. When I said something about it, I was told not before age 2. :-)
Yes, my older kids have discovered the milkshake--I mean frappucchino. Why they think it's worth $3.95 I will never know! Congrats on all your summer reading!

I am staying away from Starbucks too! I gained 7 pounds this summer -- and I'm pretty sure it was the 2xweekly, 560-calorie frappaccinos I discovered! Ahhhhh!

Mmm..sounds like fun! Would ya'll faint if I told you I've never had a coffee from Starbucks? Lol!
Jeannine and Amy...that IS surprising that you all have never been to a Starbucks...not even ever! But here in the northwest, we sort of wrote the book on the whole American latte thing. It's where Starbucks was first launched and up until 10 or 15 years ago, the northwest pretty much was the only place you found them.

Brainwashing! Very clever business tactics for ensnaring the future coffee-addicted generation. But I would probably use it myself...

Hope you have wonderful time. My daughter and I always had coffee dates at Starbucks..even when she was little, she got hot chocolate.

Funny! Of course I love those Capicchinos too, but I'm glad my little munchkins had a decaf kind.

Sounds like a fun girls outing for you and your daughters.
The city I live in just got a Starbucks within the last year. It is very yummy but alas, stay-at-home means expensive goodness is only for treats.
