Sunday Family Doin's

First of all, thank you to so many of you who replied on my last post showing my little girl's drawing. Her daddy finally got around to seeing it this weekend, and was so touched. We're going to follow your advice and have it framed. :)

We're having a very laid-back weekend and not really doing anything special. We did watch the big High School Musical showing last night. You probably know by now what a huge fan I am (in spite of my advanced high school age!) but I think I would have enjoyed it even more if the day prior, my girls didn't spend an entire car ride singing every song from the movie. My oldest thought it would be really clever to sing one line from each song she knew...over and over...like a medley gone terribly wrong.

Nevertheless, it was still fun to watch as my girls danced around with the big dance numbers. (My favorite? "No, no, no! Stick to the stuff you know!") and of course, the Troy and Gabrielle's duet at the end.

And I know you are all going to be beside yourselves with glee when I tell you they are making a High School Musical 2 -and we can all vote on what we want to happen!

Then again, maybe you'd just like me to move on...(Okay, you all don't have to nod so vigorously!) ;) I guess I really have to get out more....

On a completely different subject, I don't mind tell you that my birthday is coming up this week, and I'm just not thrilled about it. At all. We have no big celebrating plans, but my hubby did say he would take me to dinner while the girls are in Awana.
Mainly, the reason for my less-than-excited feeling is simple:
I just don't want to be another year older.
Yes, I know it's better than the alternative, but I still would prefer going backwards now for each year. I guess women have been doing this for years and it's not anything new.
So, I'm going go into reverse now, from here on out, if you don't mind.
Just think how young I'll be in ten years!

Our wild pup, Mandy had a sleep-over with our good friends for two nights this past week (to make sure she would be compatable) and overall, they said things went very well. She got put her place once by their big dog- and that was a good thing. The rest of the time, she and their little pug romped all around and became the best of friends. So, I'm hoping to make my final decision this week if we should keep her or let her go. I can see how she will most likely become a wonderful adult dog...but meanwhile, I have two little light-weight girlies whom she likes to jump on and occasionally bite.
So...thank you all, again, for your prayers about this.

Also, a few of you have told me that you also love old movies and have dropped by my other blog...I'm sorry I just haven't been able to keep up very well with that, but am not ready to abandon quite yet. I just posted something new over there and I'm really going to try to keep it updated once a month.

On one final note, I heard a few more birds than usual singing this morning before church. I know it's partly that they are are just thrilled to see grass again after the snow, but it does make me just a little excited about spring being around the corner...
(OK, maybe two corners....still, I'm ready for it!)
But it just sort of struck me...
In this time of the year considered to be the dead of winter, it was so refreshing to hear those little birds singing, as if they were praising their Creator with hope and faith that true spring was near. Even though they couldn't quite see it...yet.
I think there is a lesson in there somewhere for me...
