A few random Uh-Ohs...with a major template headache

OK...I was messing around with some things last night and all my buttons and links disapeared! Yikes! Do I have to start from scratch now? Waaaah!

My seven year old has a the "croup". You know, that barky, raspy cough and a slight fever. There's been a thousand strains of bugs going around the church and homeschool group, so I guess I am thankful it's not one of the worse kinds. But we are stuck here on this cold, rainy day...
Is it spring yet?

I'm out of coffee beans.

Alright, enough whining. I actually have so much to be thankful for! It's just easier to remember them when I've had that cup of coffee...so I'm off to the drive-thru with some spare change I found! :)
Please say a little prayer for my croupy girl...and I'll be back later to try and fix my bare little blog!

Edited: Alright...I've been working and working on this...and now, every time I try to edit my template and add things back in, the whole blog comes out with all the words blended together! I'm pulling out my hair here...and that's after I've had my coffee! Help!!! If any of you have any answers I would surely be grateful!

Yikes - I hate when that happens! Hope you get it figured out!

Hope your 7 yr old feels better soon!

Tammy, can you copy and past the template from the very last time it was right.

Hope this helps. I also try to save my template to Word at least once a month, just in case.

I will pray for your little girl, hope she feels better soon. :)

Tammy,
I'm not sure how "desperate" you are, but you can revert to your old template. Just go to your dashboard, template, then html. Scroll all the way down and You'll see the link.
I personally have never tried this, but I know one blogger who did and it
helped her out of a bad spot.
I'm so sorry your little one is sick. That bug is really going around here and it's a nasty one. Sending prayers your way.
((hugs))

I hate that croupy cough. It's scary. Hope she gets over it soon.

I don't know what to tell you about your template - I never heard of the words all running together like you said. Do you have a practice blog? I do and it's a mirror copy of my real blog. Every time I make a change in my template, I make the same change in my practice blog template. So if something goes wrong, it's a simple matter of cut and paste to fix it.

In this case, I have no idea what's happening in your template when you try to edit it. Blogger's been running a little slow lately but I've made several changes in my template today without a problem.

You should create a practice blog. Just create the new blog, delete the template on the practice blog and replace it by copying your real blog's template into it. Then you can work on the practice blog template until you figure it out without messing up your real blog.

Goodness, I know it's frustrating you to death.

I'm so sorry I can't help... I am absolutely "dumb" when it comes to this stuff. I hope your little one gets better and that you have a great weekend!

Now you know why I won't go to their "customize" option! lol I've done the switch but I'm staying with the template I've always had. Hopefully if you had copied and saved your old template, you can paste all your links, etc onto your new template. Hopefully you can eventually figure it all out.

My son Corey had the croup a lot when he was younger so I know how awful it can be...hope your little one feels better soon! My doctor used to tell me to open the window a crack, even in the winter, because the fresh air would help clear his breathing passages.

Hugs xoxo

Been there; done that. Barb's idea to create a practice blog is a good one. At the very least, you should copy your template to a text file on your hard drive so you will always have a backup.

Thank you so much for your comments...and advice! I tried a couple of the suggestions but to no avail...and although I did know to copy and save template- and even had a practive blog!- somehow, I pushed the wrong button and wammo- old links are bye-bye. It says that they are suppose to save my original, which would be good if I knew how to access it.
But the better news is that I found where I could add things without going into my template...I guess it's only through new blogger? Anyway, this is probably old news to most of you, but I was trying to do it the old-fashioned way and it wasn't working anymore. Now you can just go to Edit layout! However, I still have to find get all the codes and a few addresses again...but at least I don't feel as overwhelemed anymore!

Thank you all...just getting a comment here made me feel better, even if it wasn't advice! Blessings!

PS...I meant to say that even though I KNEW to save the template, I did not...because I didn't know it was going to disapear! That will teach me to only play around in my practice blog from now on! ;)

I have no computer advice to give because my computer solving ability ends with "have you tried hitting ctrl + alt + delete?"

I love the blue though, it looks pretty.

If it weren't for Kristen, I would have nothing, so I'm no help at all! I just call her or e-mail her and say, "Could you please . . . " And she does. She threatens to charge me, but so far so good!

Oh dear. I'm no help at all, and as I sit here reading all these other's advice, I'm thinking, uh oh. Save my template? Practice blog? Hmmm. I'm going to call my techie. Good luck!

I don't have any advice except this time when you fix it copy/paste into a word document and save it. That's what I do..

I was worried about your template so I ran back over to see how it's going. Bet me I'll ever go near that "Edit Layout" option. LOL

I hope you get it fixed. What a pain to have to redo your links.

Tough one. Just make sure you have a back up of the posts so you don't lose them. That would be awful!

I like the blue!

The croup! That's awful.
I hope you get things figured out with your template!

I hope your daughter feels better soon.

I find the new blogger easier to use than the old but it was very confusing at first. Hope you get it the way you want without too much more trouble.

Hope your daughter gets better very soon. I used to hate when the kids got croupy.

Tammy I hope you find a way to get all your stuff back. I know I'd be freaked right out! If I learn anything I certainly will let you know!

Bless her heart. I used to get the croup a lot when I was little so can really sympathise. Are you using the humidifier? Tell her Nammy is praying for her.
All those things that everyone wrote about the blogs was pure Greek to me, so can't help there & struggle with mine a lot when I do write something.

All your info has disappeared into the Internetherworld. Bummer! I HATE it when that happens! I put together some absolutely brilliant prose for one of my Squidoo lenses and the grim reaper of information got it too. I SO empathize!

I'm praying for the croupy one!

Praying for your baby! :o)

Template troubles are a headache! I don't think you want my techie support... I am, after all, the Queen of Delete! *LOL*

I am sorry for the "headache" I get frustrated to no end when that happens. I hope your little girl feels better soon =)

Sorry I missed your plea for help...but then I'd have been no help. I always yell at computer guru son Billy to come quick! I relate completely to the coffee problem. No coffee, no brain. Hope your little one is better.
